BJT Lawyers Reach $86 Million Settlement

King County Superior Court Judge Sandra Widlan preliminarily approved a settlement to resolve a lawsuit against Swedish Medical Center for $86 million.  The lawsuit claimed hourly workers at Swedish were not provided with second meal periods on 12-hour shifts and were underpaid for their work time due to timeclock rounding.  More details about the lawsuit and settlement can be found in this article.

BJTL will distribute more than $10M in settlement checks to nurses at Evergreen

BJTL represents current and former registered nurses in six departments at Evergreen Medical Center who have been denied rest and meal breaks. After more than 6 years of litigation and a month-long trial in 2023, the parties reached a settlement of claims in November 2024, during Evegreen’s post-trial appeal.  BJTL is thrilled to announce that the trial court granted final approval of the settlement on Friday, April 5, 2025.

Former Meta Director Sues Over Discrimination, Retaliation & Safety Violations Cover-Up

On February 3, 2025, Kelly Stonelake, a former senior leader at Meta with a 15-year tenure at the company, sued Meta in King County Superior Court.

Ms. Stonelake’s case, led by BJTL partner Cindy Heidelberg, highlights systemic patterns of sex discrimination and retaliation against women at Meta who raise concerns about safety, bias, and regulatory compliance. It outlines the repeated harassment and sex discrimination she faced during her years at Meta, and how Meta retaliated against her for exposing regulatory and safety risks that harmed children.
