Brendan Donckers is a partner at BJTL.  He litigates civil cases and appeals in state and federal courts with a focus on individual and class action consumer protection cases, employment litigation, and civil rights.  He also represents individuals, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and small businesses in property and land use disputes.  Brendan has argued appeals at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Washington Supreme Court, the Washington Court of Appeals, and he was second-chair in a landmark FOIA case before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Brendan has served as a director on the boards of nonprofits and community organizations throughout Washington.  He is a member of the Northwest Consumer Law Center board and recently served as a board member and president of the Northwest Justice Project.  Brendan also served as a member and chair of the Seattle Ethics and Election Commission.  He was an appointee to the Pioneer Square Preservation Board and also served as a director and president of the state’s first preservation and development authority, Historic South Downtown.

Before joining BJTL, Brendan litigated environmental, land use, and public records cases with David Mann and Mickey Gendler at Gendler & Mann.  He also worked as a staff attorney in the Washington Supreme Court Commissioner’s Office and on two policy committees for the Washington House Democratic Caucus during legislative session.

Prior to law school, Brendan worked on a global security initiative with the United Nations Foundation in Washington, D.C. and was a campaign aide to former U.S. Congressman, Jim McDermott.

Brendan earned his J.D. with honors from Seattle University and was the valedictorian at Santa Clara University.
